Removal, installation and check of serviceability of functioning of the thermostat

Do not open a cover of a radiator and do not remove the thermostat before full cooling of the engine! The prevention in the beginning see also has undressed Antifreeze - the general data.

Removal

Petrol models

Models with engines SOHC

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  2. Empty cooling system (Routine maintenance see the Head).

If be not going to fill in a new liquid in system, keep merged for the subsequent use.

  1. Remove assemblage of an air cleaner with air lines (see the Head of the Power supply system and release).
  2. Ослабьте fixing collars also disconnect the top hose of a radiator from a cover established on the right on a head of cylinders of the thermostat.
  3. Remove газораспределительный a belt of drive ГРМ with an intermediate roller, a cogwheel of a camshaft and a back cover of drive ГРМ.
  1. Turn out fixing bolts and uncover the thermostat.
  1. Take the thermostat from the case, remove a sealing ring, - try to remember adjusting position of components.

Models with engines DOHC

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery (the engine Electric equipment see the Head).
  2. Empty cooling system (Routine maintenance see the Head).

If be not going to fill in a new liquid in system, keep merged for the subsequent use.

  1. Ослабьте fixing collars also disconnect the top hose of a radiator from a thermostat cover.

On models 1.4 and 1.6 l the cover is established on the case, привернутом by bolts to the right party of the engine. On models 1.8 and 2.0 l the cover fastens directly to a head of cylinders, - here it is necessary to disconnect one more small hose.

  1. On engines of 1.8 l disconnect electroconducting from the gauge of temperature established on the case of the thermostat.
  1. Turn out fixing bolts and remove the case together with the thermostat built in it.

  1. On engines of 1.4 and 1.6 l remove a sealing ring. On engines of 2.0 l the cover is established on a lining, on engines of 1.8 l - on hermetic.
  1. At a corresponding complete set on models 1.4 and 1.6 l disconnect electroconducting from the gauge of temperature and turn out bolts of fastening of the basic case of the thermostat to a head of cylinders. Remove a lining. If it is required, turn out the gauge from the case.
  1. In case of need on l models 1.8 turn out the temperature gauge.

Diesel models

Models with engines of 1.7 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the storage battery with a basic arm (the engine Electric equipment see the Head).
  2. Cock a lay brake, поддомкратьте the car and establish it on props. At a corresponding complete set remove protection картера.
  3. Empty cooling system (Routine maintenance see the Head).

If be not going to fill in a new liquid in system, keep merged for the subsequent use.

  1. Ослабьте fixing collars also disconnect the top hose of a radiator from a cover established on the right (engines SOHC) / at the left (engines DOHC) on a head of cylinders of the thermostat.
  1. Turn out fixing bolts and uncover the thermostat the case.
  1. Take the valve of the thermostat (2) of the case and remove a sealing ring.

Models with engines of 2.0 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove an air cleaner, an inlet air line and the gauge of a measuring instrument of weight of air (the Power supply system see).
  2. Cock a lay brake, поддомкратьте the car and establish it on props. At a corresponding complete set remove protection картера.
  3. Empty cooling system (Routine maintenance see the Head).

If be not going to fill in a new liquid in system, keep merged for the subsequent use.

  1. At a corresponding complete set disconnect electroconducting from the thermostat of the gauge of temperature established on the case.
  2. Ослабьте collars also disconnect from the thermostat case the top and bottom hoses, and also a prorolling hose, - the thermostat is established on the right on a head of cylinders.
  3. Turn out fixing bolts and remove the case together with the thermostat built in it. Remove a lining.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Before definitively to affirm as opinion on a thermostat exit out of operation, check up level of a cooling liquid in system, a condition and effort of a tension приводного a belt (Routine maintenance see the Head), and also serviceability of functioning of a measuring instrument of temperature.
  2. One of the possible reasons of too slow warming up of the engine (according to measuring instrument indications) is thermostat jamming in open position. Replace the thermostat new.
  3. In case of an engine overheat touch a hand the top hose of a radiator. If the hose not нагрет, probably, the thermostat is jammed in the closed position, blocking circulation of a cooling liquid through a radiator. Replace the thermostat.

At all do not maintain the car with the removed thermostat! Thus the feedback of the onboard processor that will lead to increase of toxicity of the fulfilled gases and excessive increase in the expense of fuel can be broken off.

  1. If the top hose нагрет, it means that the cooling liquid regularly circulates through a radiator, i.e. the thermostat is opened. Address to materials of the Section devoted to diagnostics of malfunctions of system of cooling (Diagnostics of malfunctions see).
  2. The most exact results are given by thermostat check on a workbench.
  3. Remove the thermostat from the engine (the Engine see the Head).
  1. Tie up to assemblage of the thermostat a piece of a wire and lower it in the capacity filled with water. There lower the thermometer.

Track, that the thermometer and the thermostat did not adjoin to walls and a capacity bottom!

  1. Start to warm up slowly water, watching change of indications of the thermometer, - operation of the valve of the thermostat should occur in exact conformity to requirements of Specifications.
  1. Estimate size of full opening of the valve, - the rating value makes b - and = 8 mm.

Installation

Installation is carried out in return sequence. Pay attention to following moments.

  1. Carefully smooth out interfaced surfaces and replace sealing elements / hermetic.
  2. Place the thermostat in a casing, it is correct it сориентировав.
  3. With demanded effort tighten bolts of fastening of a cover.
  4. Restore initial connection of all hoses and electroconducting (where it is required, establish into place removed gauges).
  5. Fill in in system cooling liquid (Routine maintenance see the Head).
  6. Start the engine, warm up to working temperature and be convinced of absence of leaks
