Safety locks - the general information

Various combinations of safety locks, breakers of a chain and fusible inserts can be applied to protection of contact chains of an electric equipment of the car.

Big safety locks (and the relay) is located on considered models of cars in the assembly block located at the left under the panel of devices. On models Astra the assembly block is behind a box for the trifles which facing should be removed preliminary from the panel, after removal of components of a box it is necessary to pull for the bottom of the block for the purpose of a conclusion its working position. On models Zafira it is enough to open a cover of the assembly block on the panel of devices.

The second assembly block of safety locks / of the relay is located in an impellent compartment of the car, has a separate design and is equipped by demountable covers.

Each separate safety lock is used for protection of any concrete electric contour or at once several contours. The identification card with the scheme of placing of safety locks in the assembly block is usually glued to a cover of the last, from its internal party.

In assembly blocks the safety locks of a compact design equipped with bayonet contacts, and if necessary easily taken by fingers from the nests in the block are used. At refusal any of electric power consumers first of all always it is necessary to check up a condition of a corresponding safety lock. At replacement of the fused safety lock strictly watch that the prepared replaceable element corresponded on type failed. The safety locks calculated on a various nominal current strength physically can differ nothing from each other, without being thus interchangeable. Each of electric chains has various working parametres and requires various degree of protection, therefore replacement of the safety lock calculated on a certain current strength not corresponding it on parametres is fraught with the most serious consequences (up to fire occurrence). Working parametres of a safety lock (a nominal current strength) are usually designated on its plastic case colour identification (Specifications see), besides, is in addition used.

From the interior of a cover of the assembly block the special clip which use allows to facilitate procedure of extraction of a safety lock appreciably can be attached.

If the new safety lock after installation also fails at once, it is not meaningful to make its further replacement, - before it is necessary to reveal and eliminate the reason of occurrence of an overload in a chain. In most cases that appears the short circuit of connecting electroconducting caused by damage of its isolation. Spare safety locks usually are located in free колодках the assembly block.
